Overview
Meta announced Muse Spark, the first in a new series of models built by Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), after rebuilding its AI stack "from the ground up" over the prior nine months.
Muse Spark is described as small and fast by design, but capable of reasoning through complex questions (including science, math, and health). It now powers the Meta AI assistant in the Meta AI app and meta.ai.
What Changed in Meta AI
According to the announcement:
- Modes: Meta AI can switch between modes depending on task complexity
- Parallel subagents: Meta AI can launch multiple subagents in parallel to work on different parts of a question (e.g., planning a trip: itinerary + compare destinations + kid activities)
- Multimodal perception: Better ability to understand the world from photos (e.g., rank snacks by protein from an airport shelf)
- Health: Worked with physicians to improve helpfulness on common health questions (including some image/chart cases)
- Visual coding: Can generate custom websites and mini-games from prompts
- Shopping + social context: Pulls styling inspiration and context from content across Meta apps
